The Bull City Race Fest & Food Truck Rodeo is the culmination of a world-class running experience, in a world-class eating experience all in a world-class city!

The weekend kicks off with the expo and packet pick-up in downtown Durham, followed by a Carb Crawl, with local restaurants showcasing why Durham is foodie heaven.

With differing distances on race day, you are welcome to race, go for distance, or run with family and friends. Each distance has something unique to offer. The half-marathon showcases downtown, Trinity Park and Duke’s campus. All races start next to the American Tobacco Campus with a post-race festival on the lawn at the Durham Performing Arts Center. There will be food trucks, a beer garden, a kids’ zone and entertainment.

We are pleased that Habitat for Humanity of Durham continues to be the Official Charitable Beneficiary of this landmark running and food event. The partnership enables our two organizations to continue our commitment of creating positive economic and social impact for the Durham community for the next five years, funding the building of Habitat houses in communities across Durham.

Half Marathon Shadow Runner – Run at Home and Get an Awesome Medal & Shirt!

*Promo code discounts do not apply.  The shadow runner category is for people that are unable to join us on race day, but still want to run the Half Marathon distance in their own local area.  It is based on an honor system.  We mail shadow runners a finisher medal and a shirt the week after the race. We do not allow transfers into the Shadow Runner category if you are already registered.

Registration Deadlines
Registration will remain open until 6:45 on Sunday, October 21. If you register AFTER the expo closes and are not able to get to the expo, you will be charged $15 to pick you packet up on race morning.

Rules

MINIMUM PACE REQUIREMENT

Participants must maintain a minimum pace of 15:00/mile (gun time) to participate in this event. This rule in place to enable Durham Police to reopen the major roads used for race course. Our Finish Line will close at EXACTLY 10:45 am. If you are not able to complete the race by 10:45 am, you may either walk back on the sidewalk or opt to be picked up in a SAG Vehicle. It is suggested that you train at a minimum of 14-minute per mile pace. Thank you for your understanding.

RESTRICTIONS

For safety purposes and logistics management, baby strollers, baby carriers, and pets are NOT allowed in the Half Marathon, 5 Mile Run, or 1 Mile Run. No exceptions will be made. Littering on the course will result in disqualification.

TIMING

All runners will be provided with race bibs with timing chips attached to the back. It is very important that the race number be worn on the front of your shirt to ensure that it works properly. In accordance with USATF Rules, overall and cash awards will be determined by gun time while age group awards will be determined by your chip time.

WEATHER POLICY

Races are held, rain or shine, unless Endurance Carolinas determines that conditions are too dangerous. This will be based on a prudent decision made on race weekend or race day by Race Officials and local law enforcement officials. If the race is canceled due to inclement weather there will be neither refunds nor transfers. This position is consistent with USA Track & Field recommendations and with the protocol of sharing the risks associated with the sport of running. In the event of inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances, Endurance Carolinas reserves the right to alter, cancel or eliminate any/all portions of the race.

Road Closures on Race Day:

  • Jackie Robinson St at the 147 Ramp in front of the Durham Bulls Stadium – closed from 5:00-11:00 AM
  • Willard St at Blackwell St – closed from 5:00-11:00 AM
  • Blackwell St between Morehead Ave and W. Pettigrew St closed – closed from 5:00-11:00 AM
  • All other roads used for the race course will close and re-open once the last runner passes.

Parking Map

Parking is available for at the American Tobacco Campus in the North (1720 spaces) and South (1300 spaces) decks.  Each of these parking decks are a short walk from the starting line and post-race area.

American Tobacco Campus parking services, with support from race volunteers, manage the pre-race parking logistics for the Bull City Race Fest to ensure this part of race morning goes as smoothly as possible.

The 3 things you MUST know:

  1. There is plenty of parking at the American Tobacco Campus North & South decks
  2. Arrive and be parked by 6:30 AM to avoid traffic delays, and to give yourself time to get to the start line by 7:10 AM.  The ½ marathon starts at 7:30 AM.
  3. 5-Milers: Be parked early! You will not want to be anywhere near the ½ marathon course at 7am as roads will be closed and you may miss your start at 8:15 AM.

If you can find alternative means of transportation on race morning, please do so; we definitely encourage carpooling!

Changing Distances

You may change your race distance by visiting your account on ACTIVE.com until October 14th. In person registration updates and changes will be available at the EXPO.

No race day registration or distance changes will be available.
You MUST run the race for which you are registered. Failure to do so will result in DISQUALIFICATION!
Participants may change race distances by clicking here! You will be asked to pay the difference with cash or check if upgrading to a longer or timed race. Refunds will not be provided if you are downgrading. Sorry, we do not allow transfers to the Shadow Runner category.
Please do not change races without letting us know!
Event Cancelation + Transfer Policy

  • Entry fees are non-refundable.We appreciate you, as our customer, and understand that sometimes you just can’t make the race. We have created a great policy that offers you several different options in the event you cannot attend on race day. (You may choose only one of the options below.)Defer Your Entry: You may defer your entry to the 2019 event.  Deferrals must be processed by the event registration team. An administration fee of $25 will be charged in the event you defer. The deferral will expire after the 2019 event and you will not be able to defer your registration again.  Athletes may request a deferral by submitting an email request to registration@motivsports.com prior to October 14th, 2018.Transfers: You may not give or sell your number to anyone else. However, bib transfers are allowed for an administration charge of $25 and must be processed through your ACTIVE MyEvents account no later than October 19th, 2018. If you transfer your bib, you will receive a refund (minus the $25 administration charge) once the new participant signs up. The new runner will need to pay the full entry fee at the time of the transfer.  This process is in place to avoid any fraudulent sales of race numbers.Log into your MyEvents.ACTIVE.com account and select “Transfer registration” to begin the process.Purchase Event Insurance: Booking Protect offers Registration Protector, which provides insurance to runners in many emergency and injury situations. This must be purchased at the time of registration, and cannot be retroactively added.
