New Course Map Unveiled

18th edition of the Golden Gate Half Marathon set for Sunday, November 3

SAN FRANCISCO – June 27, 2019 – The Golden Gate Half Marathon today unveiled an updated course map for the 18th edition of the classic road race, which is scheduled for Sunday, November 3, 2019.

The iconic course will start at the foot of Van Ness between Fort Mason and Aquatic Park. The route takes runners into the historic Presidio and the Marina district, followed by an out-and-back jaunt across the Golden Gate Bridge to Vista Point, where runners experience breathtaking views of the San Francisco Bay.

After exiting the bridge, participants will then run along the waterfront past historic Crissy Field – where the famous WWII aviators trained – before finishing on Beach Street, adjacent to Ghirardelli Square in Fisherman’s Wharf.

“Providing a world class participant experience, in a world class destination is our number one priority in 2019,” said Alex Bennett, Vice President of Operations. “Whether it’s the magnificent red beams or the elegant suspension cords, there’s just something special about running across the Golden Gate Bridge.”

Race day also includes a 5k distance, which shares the same start and finish line venue as the half-marathon, offering runners picturesque views of Alcatraz and the Golden Gate Bridge, among other notable Bay Area attractions.

Event weekend will kick off with a Lifestyle Expo on Saturday, November 2nd at Ghirardelli Square. The free expo will be open to the public and feature the latest health and nutrition information with a variety of products for sample and sale, as well as a series of interactive fitness clinics.
