AboutRegister for 2018
The Golden Gate Half is more than just a 13.1-mile run through San Francisco.
Rather, it is a spectacular journey through this stunning City by the Bay. The chance to run across the Golden Gate Bridge is an experience unlike any other, but it is far from the only breathtaking moment you’ll enjoy along the way.
The fun begins along the shore of the San Francisco Bay. You’ll line up at the storied Muni Pier in Aquatic Park, where you can take in magnificent views of not only the Golden Gate Bridge, but also infamous Alcatraz. From there, you’ll trek through both the Marina and Presidio as the bridge draws ever closer.
Once you reach this masterpiece of cable and steel, you’ll first travel on the eastern walkway toward Vista Point and then head back to the City on the bridge’s western walkway. All the while, stretched out before you will be the extraordinary sights of both the San Francisco cityscape and coastline.
After you exit the bridge, the last leg of the half marathon will take you to Beach Street & Ghirardelli Square where countless locals and fellow runners will be cheering you on to the finish line!

Transfers and Cancellations
Entry fees are non-refundable.
We appreciate you, as our customer, and understand that sometimes you just can’t make the race. We have created a great policy that offers you several different options in the event you cannot attend on race day. (You may choose only one of the options below.)
Defer Your Entry: You may defer your entry to the 2019 event. Deferrals must be processed by the event registration team. An administration fee of $25 will be charged in the event you defer. The deferral will expire after the 2019 event and you will not be able to defer your registration again. Athletes may request a deferral by submitting an email request to firstname.lastname@example.org prior to October 28th, 2018.
Transfers: You may not give or sell your number to anyone else. However, bib transfers are allowed for an administration charge of $25 and must be processed through your ACTIVE MyEvents account no later than November 2nd, 2018. If you transfer your bib, you will receive a refund (minus the $25 administration charge) once the new participant signs up. The new runner will need to pay the full entry fee at the time of the transfer. This process is in place to avoid any fraudulent sales of race numbers.
Log into your MyEvents.ACTIVE.com account and select “Transfer registration” to begin the process.
Purchase Event Insurance: Booking Protect offers Registration Protector, which provides insurance to runners in many emergency and injury situations. This must be purchased at the time of registration, and cannot be retroactively added. If an event occurs that is covered under their policy, you would need to file a claim to receive a full race refund.
For questions and inquiries regarding submitting an insurance claim, please contact Booking Protect using the following methods.
Virtual Run: If you cannot attend the race in person you may run the half marathon or 5K “virtually” and still receive the same perks. To run virtually you must upgrade your registration to the virtual option for $10. Log into your MyEvents.ACTIVE.com account and select “Purchase merchandise” to select the Virtual Upgrade option. Visit the “Virtual Run” section on the Distances page of our website for full information on participating as a Virtual Runner.
