Official Community Partners

Okanagan Athletics Club

The Okanagan Athletics Club (OAC) is the evolution of the original Kelowna Track & Field Club (KTFC) which was founded in 1983 by a community group with a common love of track and field and an interest in the youth of Kelowna. To allow the Club the freedom to evolve and adapt to the current reality of youth sport in BC, the KTFC was reformed as the OAC in February 2011. This transition allowed the club to move from an entirely volunteer organization to one offering minor paid positions to better attract and retain the high level of coaching and staff required to best meet the needs of our athletes. YMCA Okanagan

YMCA of Okanagan will serve as the primary volunteer provider of the Kelowna Wine Country Half Marathon. This event will help support the YMCA Strong Kids annual fundraising campaign. This campaign is focused on raising much needed resources to support proven YMCA programs that give kids the opportunities they need to live healthier, happier lives now, and grow into productive adults.

Supporting the YMCA Strong Kids Campaign directly supports children, teens and young adults in the community. This means:

  • Helping a child learn to swim
  • Helping a teen to learn to lead and feel success
  • Enabling a family to use a trusted, quality child care
  • Enabling a child to participate in a recreation or physical activity

Each YMCA association offers unique programs and services to meet the needs of their community – and we have been building community for over 150 years in Canada! Every kid deserves a chance and everyone is welcome at the YMCA, regardless of background or financial situation.

International Children’s Games

The International Children’s Games is an alliance of cities that pursue the common goal of forming nation-linking friendships through the exercising of sports and the arranging of sports competitions.

The goal of the International Children’s Games is to enable, develop and advance the meeting, understanding and friendship of students from different countries, and to advance the Olympic idea. In this sense, sports competitions are arranged for students. The International Children’s Games pursue their goals in a non-political, non-denominational and non-racist way.
