“Do you even Strava, brah?” Of course you do, and this Sunday, September 10, Strava is encouraging athletes from around the world to log a half marathon in an attempt to break the world record for most half marathons run in one day. So far, almost 60,000 people have registered for The Great 13.1 Record, which is being run in conjunction with the Simplyhealth Great North Run in the United Kingdom, also the world’s largest half marathon with more than 42,000 participants annually.

“Strava is a social network for athletes, so we are excited to partner with the Simplyhealth Great North Run to bring our entire athlete base together and inspire each other to make history,” said Gareth Nettleton, VP Marketing at Strava. “Regardless of how fast you run or where you live, we believe our community can motivate each other to set a new world record and run our best half marathon together.”

To participate, you can run 13.1 miles anywhere—in a race or just a run—and log your data digitally through the free Strava app. Finishers receive a digital Finisher’s Badge and the ability to be part of history. Go to the Strava Challenge page to register and learn more.
