The Scoop: This is an exquisitely cushioned high-mileage training shoe with a snug fit, a plush step-in feel and a pillowy soft ride. Skechers completely overhauled the previous edition of the GoRun Ride with a new flat-knit upper, slightly higher heel-toe drop and wider toe box that allows a bit more wiggle room. The new FLIGHT GEN midsole foam offers amazing shock absorption and a bit of energy return, although it wasn’t as energetic as the Skechers GoRun 6 shoe with a similar midsole.

Who’s It Best For: Long-distance runners who are training for longer races (10K and longer) and regularly doing once-a-week long runs. Our wear-testers generally thought this shoe feels as good in the latter miles of a run as it does early on in a run.

Plus: The shoe was designed with a noticeably “rockered” profile, which allows a runner’s foot to quickly pass from heel strike to toe-off.

Minus: Outside of built-up sidewalls and a small heel cup that offers a bit of structure in the rear foot, this shoe doesn’t offer much in the way of support or stability. For some wear-testers, the high stack height (30mm in the heel), soft foam and lack of structure led to some instability issues.
